HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Robert Thomas Poole, age 88, of Hanson, formerly Nortonville, passed away Tuesday morning surrounded by his family at Deaconess Hospital Hospice Care. Born September 30th, 1924, in Wheeling, WV, he was the son of the late Aaron Jonah Poole and Mary Frances Collins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Alice Coleman; sister, Sarah Jane Songer; and brothers, Daniel Patrick Collins and William Collins.
Bob most recently resided at the West KY Veterans Center and the family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for their years of care.
Bob was the owner and operator of Auto Electric Repair in Madisonville, KY, for over 30 years. He also worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Niagara Falls Power Project, Table Rock Dam, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. He loved fixing things and helping people, and he never met a stranger. He was very happy to get to work with his friends again from the St. Lawrence Seaway right here in Western KY.
Bob is survived by four children, Sue (Howard) Cardwell of Central City, KY, Tina (Mark) McPeek of Fort Smith, AR, Robert Aaron (Ruth Ann) Poole of Nortonville, KY, and Frances Poole of Madisonville, KY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jonathon Aaron Cardwell, Jacqueline Leigh Cardwell, Brandi Lynn McPeek Jones, Bradley Edward McPeek, Erica Nicole Poole and Savana Marie Poole; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Russell Cardwell.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville with Rev. Jim Leek and Bro. Sam Beeny officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. till service time. Burial will be immediately following in New Salem Cemetery, Nortonville with the Hopkins Co. Honor Guard performing military rites.
