mfd flame300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/16/13) – On Monday, July 15, the Madisonville Fire Department (MFD) reported two instances of activity within the Madisonville city limits.

At approximately 11:35 AM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch for a kitchen on fire at 349 E. Broadway. Upon arrival fire crew was met by the occupants outside the structure advising that there was a fire on the stove. Upon entering the structure fire crew found heavy smoke through the home. Using a thermal camera, the fire crew made its way to the kitchen and found a pot on the stove emitting heave smoke but no fire. The pot was removed from the home and positive pressure fan was used to ventilate the structure. Once the smoke was cleared the home was deemed safe to reoccupy. No further assistance was needed and all units returned to station.

At 6:29 PM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch for a brush fire along the railroad tracks between W. Broadway St. and Sugg St. Upon arrival Engine-17 found an approximate 24'x8' brush pile on fire along a fence line on S. Railroad St. Engine-17 crew deployed a 150' 1-3/4" pre-connected hose line for extinguishment of the fire. Overhaul was conducted using a wild land rake and pike pole to move the brush pile around to check for any remaining smoldering fire. Fire crews were unable to determine any possible cause of the fire. Scene was deemed safe, and no further action was taken. All fire units returned to service.
