Opal Lee Bennett, 92, of Madisonville, KY

1flowerHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Opal Lee Bennett, 92, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.

She was born June 3, 1921 in Bevier, KY to the late John W. Page and Maude Roberson Page. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Libby Bennett in 1989, one brother, two half sisters and one half brother.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Madisonville where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also served as a librarian at the church. She dedicated her life to nursing. She retired from RMC after 20 years of service. She loved to work in her gardens and take care of her roses. She loved her grandson and her great grandsons, Alex and Lucas.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Pendley of Madisonville; one grandson, Chris (Lori) Pendley of Madisonville and two great grandsons, Lucas and Alex Pendley both of Madisonville.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Second Baptist Church in Madisonville with Rev. J.D. Holt and Rev. Roy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and after 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bryant, Doug Bennett, James B. Wetzel, Gayle Wetzel, Carroll Elkins and Bill Tapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Deryl Bryant, Clarence Berry, Tom Bennett and Phillip Bennett. Junior pallbearers will be Lucas and Alex Pendley.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Histiocytosis Association of America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
