mark2HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Mark Franklin, 50, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.

He was born July 19, 1963 in Madisonville to the late Charles Leo Franklin and Laura Evelyn Franklin. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carleigh Hope Gamblin.

Mr. Franklin was an officer with the Asbestos Embankment Union #207. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Earlington First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #6. He loved to sing karaoke, the Chicago Cubs, and UK basketball.

He was survived by his wife, Darlene Chandler Franklin of Madisonville, his father-in-law and mommy-in-law, Lee and Barbara Alexander of Madisonville, two sons, Bradlee Gamblin of Madisonville, and Mitchell (Megan) Gamblin of Madisonville; three brothers, Randy (Jackie) Franklin, Jeff Franklin and John Franklin, all of Madisonville; one sister, Debbie (Bill) Mitchell of Sturgis, KY; one grandson, Cedric Gamblin of Madisonville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Haley and Rev. Kim Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brad Gamblin, Mitch Gamblin, Brian Taylor, Jerrel Doster, Timothy Franklin, and Jacob (Franklin) Galvan. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Parish, Seth Franklin, Rolley Josleyn, Rick Stripin, Robert Thomas, and David Thomson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mark Franklin Fund C/o US Bank. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
