HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Ellen Vannoy Sloop, 67, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.
She was born August 14, 1945 in Camrose, Alberta, Canada to Carl and Betty Vannoy of Madisonville.
Mrs. Sloop was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville and a member of D.A.R. She was a 1963 graduate of Madisonville High School as well as a graduate from Western KY University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Sloop had retired from her teaching career at Hopkins County Central High School.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Laurie (Jonathon) Ziliak of Haubstadt, IN; one sister, Laura Padgett of Madisonville; three grandchildren, Ethan, Aubrie and Garrett Ziliak all of Haubstadt; one niece, Julie Padgett of Mobile, AL and one nephew, Beau (Charity) Padgett of Madisonville.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Hundley officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Barnett-Strother.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at First United Methodist Church and after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Ziliak, Wayne Shelton, Jim Bob Vincent, Ted Anderson, Dale Gunkle and Jim Vincent.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins County Central High School
Youth Service Center, 6625 Hopkinsville Road Madisonville, KY 42431. Envelopes will be available at the church.
