HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Larry S. Hunt, 71, of Madisonville, KY passed away on August 17, 2013 at his residence.
He was born April 30, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN and raised in Birmingham, AL to the late Horace Stoughton Hunt and Floyce Griffin Hunt.
Mr. Hunt was a retired coal miner. He was a member of BPOE #738, a Kentucky Colonel, member of the American Legion, an avid Alabama football and UK basketball fan. He was also a member of Melody Lanes Bowling Hall of Fame, loved the game of golf and going to the beach. He volunteered for the Western Kentucky Veterans Center. His grandchildren were his passion.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Whitfield Hunt; two sons, Michael W. Hunt of Madisonville, and Bill (Valerie) Hunt of Newburgh, IN; one brother, Lance (Linda) Hunt, of Alexander City, AL; three grandchildren, Cameron Hunt of Madisonville, Mallory Hunt of Madisonville, and Hayden Hunt of Newburgh; and one step grandson, Adam Seaver of Newburgh.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the members of the Elks conducting a memorial ceremony, followed by Rob Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Whitfield, Ray Moore, Ricky Sisk, R.O. Cabbage, Sam Cartwright, and Bill Bates.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Kentucky Veterans Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
