Dorothy Eugena Barnes, 83, formerly of Nortonville, Ky

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Dorothy Eugena Barnes, 83, formerly of Nortonville, Ky passed away Sunday, September, 8 , 2013, at the Fountainview Center for Alzheimer's in Atlanta, GA. She was born April 24, 1930 in Christian County, KY to the Late Leonard and Bessie Johnston Lester.

Dorothy (Dot) was a retired employee of Baker and Hickman Department Store. Dot was known for her many talents and her creativity. She especially enjoyed designing flower arrangements and decorating wedding cakes. Mrs. Barnes was a member of The Nortonville Junior Homemakers and The Honorable Order of The Easter Star.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert (Bobby) Barnes and a son Michael W. Goodwin.

She is survived by a son, Robert Mitchell Barnes and his partner; Craig Weaver of Atlanta ; a daughter, Anita Carol Cornelius and her husband, Billy Joe Cornelius, of Tampa Fla.; daughter-in-law Charlene Webster of Orlando, Fla. and two grandchildren; Dionne Cornelius Thompson of Occoquan, VA. and Michael Christopher Goodwin of Tampa, Fla. Also, one brother Wilford C. Lester of Nortonville. Mrs. Barnes also had several nieces and nephews and one very blessed family friend and care giver, Rita C. Duncan, to whom Dot was known as 'Granny'.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 12 at 1pm at Bandy Funeral Home with Brother Ron Henn officiating. Visitation will be from 11am -1pm at the funeral home. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Nortonville United Methodist Church.
