Steve Payne, 57, of Madisonville, Ky

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Steve Payne, 57, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence.

He was born October 14, 1955 in Madisonville, KY to the late Frank and Mary Jean Belt Payne.

Mr. Payne was a union insulator for Local 37. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycle with his friends, and boating. He was very dedicated to his daughter and grandchildren. He was also a very talented artist. He loved to play softball and basketball, where he was known as "Sky Monkey."

He is survived by his daughter, Linsey Leigh Sherman of Madisonville; one sister, Cathy Smith and brother-in-law, Dowel "Whitey" Smith of Florence, MT; one brother, Tim Payne of Madisonville; two grandchildren, Briauna and Baylie Sherman; one nephew, Eric Payne; and many, many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday and after 12:30 PM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
