LEXINGTON, Ky (10/15/13)—Starting at 8 a.m. Friday morning all the way through Sunday, 300 teams made up of 12 runners will start on the 200-mile journey across the Bluegrass state, through the historic bourbon distilleries, horse country and in and out of the small towns in Kentucky.
The race is mapped out to start at the Jim Beam distillery and head east towards Bardstown, the Bourbon Capital of the World. From there you go through Heaven Hill, the beautiful Makers Mark distillery, and head towards some of the most historic places in Kentucky. Starting with Perryville Battlefield, then the second oldest city in Kentucky Stanford, then onto Danville where the states first Constitution was written. After that you run back into distillery country and go through Four Roses, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve, all through horse country. After reaching Midway you will start to make your way towards Lexington where people will be waiting your arrival for a celebration Triangle Park near Alltech Brewery and Distillery. The party that awaits your team is a celebration of Kentucky with live music and local food and drink...and of course including complimentary samples of the world famous bourbon.
The race is a fundraiser for LexArts. Those who registered and joined a team will be helping fund the LexArt mission and will help keep the arts alive in Lexington. For more information visit the website.
