DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE HAULTED AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15 INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Mabel F. Farmer, 89, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.

She was born January 25, 1924 in Webster Co., Ky to the late Clarence Alexander Travis and Nezzie Catherine Cooper Travis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Joseph Farmer; three sisters, Hester Travis, Lois Cates and Ruth Hester and three brothers, Liddle Travis, Clarence Travis and Hoyt Travis.

Mrs. Farmer was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. Mrs. Farmer worked at the old F & F Café and was a caregiver and sitter for many people over the years.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie (Charlotte) Farmer of Paducah, KY; two brothers, Billy Travis of Beaver Dam, Ky and Grover Travis of Madisonville; two grandchildren, Drew (Kaleigh) Farmer and Ross (Hailey) Farmer all of Huntsville, AL and two great grandchildren, Savannah and MacKenzie Farmer of Huntsville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard and Mr. Drew Farmer officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Gary Travis, Mike Travis, Brad Travis, Terry Travis, Drew Farmer and Ross Farmer.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home for all of their kindness and care during this difficult time.
