Carmon Heltsley Bishop, 88 of Madisonville, Ky

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Carmon Heltsley Bishop, 88 of Madisonville, Ky went to meet the Lord on December 28, 2013 at Baptist Health, Madisonville. She was born April 19, 1925 in White Plains, KY to the late Will and Nola Heltsley. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church for 70 years. She enjoyed her roles as a Bible School director, youth mission group leader and being a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society, a board member of the Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center and RSVP Volunteer. Carmon loved quilting, traveling on bus tour trips and being a beautician for 20 years.

Also preceded in death by her first husband, Basil Moore; second husband, Harry Bishop; daughter, Rebecca Bishop Hicklin; brothers, R.C., Edward, Bill, and Seymore Heltsley; and sister, Violet Whitfield.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Heltsley Groves and sister-in-law, Genieve Heltsley both of White Plains; daughters, Alice (Archie) Pennington of Nortonville and Rena (Casper) Reed of Lexington; sons, Joseph (Cheryl) Bishop of Bowling Green and William (Lois) Bishop of Greenville, Ind.; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church with Bro. Daniel Vandiver and Bro. John Culbertson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at Bandy Funeral Home and Wednesday 9-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers will be: Keith and Kevin Pennington, Gregory Reed, Melvin Hicklin, Eric Helm, Stephen Wood, and Scotty Stanley. Honorary pall bearers will be the Deacons at Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
