Watson purple ribbon 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (2/6/14) – Pastor Adam Brown of Temple Baptist Church in Central City, has been the spokesperson for the Watson family since a house fire left his cousin, Chad Watson, in critical condition, and took the lives of Watson's wife and eight children.

Watson's one surviving daughter, Kylie, continues to improve slowly, according to Brown.
 
Speaking with SurfKY News from Nashville, Brown said that the family is overwhelmed by the prayers and shows of support the family has received.

Brown said he has received word from Joe Ben Tucker of Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, that there will be no funeral expenses.

"I got a call from Joe Ben, and he told me there will be no funeral expenses," Brown said. "He called and said that as a Muhlenberg County native he wanted to take care of his Muhlenberg County family. When I spoke with him, he couldn't have been more gracious," Brown said.

Brown noted that The Band Perry is taking care of flowers and cemetery plots.

The funds the group offered to cover funeral expenses will now be used for other necessary expenses.

"Oak Grove Baptist Church actually had donated the cemetery plots, but The Band Perry wants to reimburse them, so that money can be used for other expenses that may arise," Brown said.

Jagoe Homes, in Owensboro was also touched by the Watson's tragedy, and will be building a new home for the family.

Ann Clark, co-owner of family-owned Clark's Appliance and Tire Center in Greenville, told SurfKY News that Clark's will be supplying the Watson's home with whatever appliances are needed.

"Clark's will be supplying whatever is needed in the way of appliances, once the home is built. Whether they need a refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave oven... just whatever appliances that are needed," Clark said.

Many others are donating funds to help the family through area banks.

Brown said that the family is overwhelmed and very appreciative of how area residents and people from across the nation have offered to help.

"As a teenager growing up in a small county, like many young people, I looked forward to moving away," Brown said. "But the Lord led me back to where I was born. And now recent events have changed my perspective. I could not be more proud to call myself a Muhlenberg County native. The people of this county, along with complete strangers from throughout the country have stepped up. People have just been so compassionate toward us, it's unbelievable. Anyone who has a child can somehow relate to this tragedy. The Bible says that a burden shared is half a burden. When our family feels worn out, we can really feel the power of the prayers of people giving us strength," Brown said.
