Sebree Man Charged for 4 Counts Attempted Murder; Hits Deputy with Car

22806752 BG1CLAY, Ky. (2/26/14) ― A Sebree man is in custody after police say he shot into a Clay residence both before police arrived and again after before speeding away in his vehicle.

According to Kentucky State Police, Post 2 received a call for assistance at about 6:10 p.m. from the Webster County Sheriff's Department and the Clay Police Department regarding shots being fired into a residence in Clay.

Upon arrival, the suspect returned to the residence, struck a deputy with his vehicle and fired additional shots into the house. Officers then discharged their firearms at him and struck his vehicle. After a pursuit, police arrested Tommy R. Branson, 61, of Sebree on Kentucky 132 near Dixon, the report said.

The deputy was transported by Webster County EMS to Baptist Health in Madisonville, where he was treated and released.

Branson was charged with four counts of attempted murder, attempted murder/police officer, first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree fleeing/evading police.

In July 2013, Branson was charged with second-degree arson in reference to a house fire at 328 Starl Shelton Road in Sebree.
