Shawn DeWayne McFarland, age 42, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Madisonville

mcfarlandMADISONVILLE, Ky (3/1/14) — Shawn DeWayne McFarland, age 42, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Madisonville, passed away into the loving arms of God at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday February 26, 2014 at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque.  Shawn was born November 18, 1971 in Fort Knox, KY., the son of the late Albert McFarland Jr. and Ella Louise Washington McFarland.  He attended Saint James Baptist Church in Barnsley,KY., and was employed with Pegatron Corporation in Jeffersonville, IN. as a computer technician.  He attended Devry Institute for technology in Columbus,OH., where he studied computer technology,  and was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School.  He was also a member of the Bass Federation in Campbellsville, KY.  He was employed as a sales associate at Walmart in Louisville, Ky. and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James "June" McFarland.  He leaves behind to celebrate his memories, one son, DeShawn McFarland of Hopkinsville, KY.; four sisters, Anita (George) Allen and Donna McFarland all of Madisonville, Sandra (Todd) Tesch of Waukesha,WI., and Jennifer McFarland of Richmond,KY.; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, and one special friend, Maria Lucero of Albuquerque. 

His life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2014 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville.  The Rev. Robert L. Cottoner will officiate.  His resting place will be in Westside Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. 

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2014 at the church where a Celebration of Life DVD will be shown.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family.  Envelopes will be available at the church.  Elliott Mortuary Funeral Services in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements.
