james mcguyerMADISONVILLE, Ky. – James S. McGuyer, 89, of Madisonville, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Brighton Cornerstone.

He was born March 31, 1925 in Hopkins County, to the late Rufus and Georgia Hibbs McGuyer. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Fred McGuyer; four sisters, Catherine, Fannye, Rudell, and Alyne.

He is survived by one son, Roger McGuyer of Madisonville; one grandson, Matt(Rian) McGuyer of Madisonville; one granddaughter, Holly Dale McGuyer of Madisonville; two great grandsons, Dylan Ross and Tyler Dale Honeycutt both of Madisonville; two great granddaughters, Aubrie Mason and Ashbie Lee McGuyer both of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

McGuyer was a WWII Veteran having served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Barnes as a photographer. He also retired from South Hopkins Coal, where he was shop foreman. During retirement he enjoyed woodcarving and playing his guitar.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date for the family. Burial will be at Grapevine Cemetery.
