Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Collison on Parkway

accident two car 300SLAUGHTERS, Ky. (6/7/14) - Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred at 2:55 p.m. Friday, June 6 on the Pennyrile Parkway, between the 57 mile marker and 56 mile marker.

The preliminary investigation revealed that John Dodson, 64, of Owensboro was operating a Ford Edge southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway.  Due to a medical condition, Dodson lost consciousness while operating the vehicle.  The vehicle exited the roadway into the median.  Dodson regained consciousness, overcorrected the vehicle, and re-entered the southbound lane, striking a Freightliner tractor and trailer operated by Thomas East, 57, of Sumner, Miss. East's vehicle struck a guard rail and exited the roadway, overturning onto its side.

Dodson and East were transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment.  Both subjects were wearing a seatbelt.  There were no other passengers involved.

Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision.  KSP-CVE Officer John Sweeney, Sebree Fire Department and Webster County EMS assisted at the scene.
