According to a Kentucky State Police report, Julia Eberle, 24, Madisonville, was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima headed south on Kentucky 189 at about 3 p.m. as Blair Garrett, 21, Greenville was headed south in a 2007 Ford Fusion in front of Eberle's vehicle.

The report said as Eberle attempted to pass Garrett in the emergency lane, Eberle's vehicle struck Garrett's vehicle on the passenger side. Eberle's vehicle exited the right shoulder of the road and struck an earth embankment, crossed both lanes of travel and came to rest off the left shoulder of the road. Garrett was able to stop her vehicle in the emergency lane.

Trooper Craig Engler charged Eberle with driving under the influence, first offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance/meth; third-degree possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; tampering with physical evidence; and, execution of a warrant for another agency, according to the report.

She was lodged in the Muhlenberg Detention Center.
