Betty 'Mammy' Jean Wix Barber, 80, of Earlington

EARLINGTON, Ky. – Betty "Mammy" Jean Wix Barber, 80, of Earlington passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Ky. She was born September 11, 1933 to Willie and Mary Wix. She loved playing Bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha “Big Boy” Barber; a son-in-law Stanley Barnes; and several of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her three sons, Eddie (Cindy) Barber, Charley (Phyllis) Barber, Harry (Lisa) Barber and one daughter, Charlotte Barnes all of Earlington, Ky.; her brother Douglas Wix of Tennessee; three sisters, Wilma Moss of Tennessee, and Mary Warren of Tennessee and Trish Vanover of Madisonville, Ky.; nine grandchildren, April Barber Brown, Frank Barber, Angie Barber, Eli Barber, Ashley Barber Mitchell, Jonathon Barnes, Jason Barnes, Harry Lee Barber, Jr., Chris Barber ; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Reid-Walters Home in Earlington, Ky. Bro. Howard Jones and Bro. Troy Oakley will be officiating. Her grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
