Joe Oldham, Sr., 87, of Madisonville

joe oldham srMADISONVILLE, Ky. – Joe Oldham, Sr., 87, of Madisonville passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.

He was born September 13, 1926 in Hopkins County, Ky. to the late Monroe and Aileen Oldham.

Mr. Oldham loved gardening, debating politics, playing golf when he could and traveling. He was a member of the UMWA District 23 and an avid reader. He retired from Island Creek Coal and was a World War II United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie "Butch" Oldham; his granddaughters, Sarah Beth Smith and Mindy Leigh Clark; his brothers, Bill, Buck, Tommy, David and Jerry Oldham; and his sisters, Gertrude Kirkwood and Sheila Oldham Clark.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Thelma Ladd Oldham of Madisonville; his children, Joanne (Jim) Hargrove of Madisonville, Donald (Pat) Oldham of Fort Wayne, Ind., Joey (Mary) Oldham of Madisonville, Brenda (Stanley) Clark of Nortonville, Ky. and Trenna (David) Smith of Georgia; sisters, Betty Turley of Madisonville and Anna Wisinki of Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will Joey Oldham, Michael Oldham, Jared Smith, Jordan Smith, Bob Hiday and Jeff Hiday. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Marci Oldham, Jennifer Marszalek, Angie Baldinger, Laura Farrell, Lori Clark Ezell and Heather Hiday.

WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. – S. Marshall Heady, 76, of Blackford, Ky. passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, Ky.

 

He attended Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church located near Blackford, Kentucky.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Katie Catherine Heady.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Rich of Uniontown, Ky., Vickie Pritchett of Clay, Ky.; two sons, Mark Heady of Blackford, Ky., Richard Heady of Clay, Ky.; one sister, Nancy Heady Lacy of Marion, Ky.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, Ky. with Rev. James V. Fulton and Bro. Bob Jernigan officiating. Burial is to follow in Blackford Cemetery in Blackford, Ky.

 

Visitation will be Friday, June 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, Ky. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Bertha E. Fraley, 92, of Utica, Ky., passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Bertha Ellen Burgess was born December 25, 1921 in Echols, Ky. to the late John and Ardie Olis Geary Burgess and was married to Willie Fraley. Bertha was a homemaker and member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.

 

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Fraley, who passed away June 17, 2000 and by a daughter, Hilda Gore.

 

Survivors include two sons, Gene Shultz of Cleveland, Ohio and Billy Shultz of Owensboro; five daughters, Cissy Hart of Elizabethtown, Donna Mattingly of Louisville, Brenda Henry of Owensboro, Vickie Greenwell of Panther, and Christy Tran of North Carolina; a step son, Robert Fraley of Cleveland; a step daughter, Barbara Fraley of Cleveland; two brothers, J.C. Burgess of St. George, Utah and Harold Burgess of Beaver Dam; a sister, Stella Harper Galloway of Owensboro; 32 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; and 23 great-great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Echols Cemetery in Ohio County. Friends may visit with Bertha's family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Linda K. Stone, 61, of Calhoun, Ky., passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Linda Kay Goff was born August 7, 1952 in Oklahoma. Linda was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

 

Survivors include her fiancé, Dennis G. Luttrell; a son, Jason L. Stone of Grandview, Ind.; a daughter, Angela Middleton and husband, Robert of Evansville; and three grandchildren.

 

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Phillips Family Cemetery in McLean County. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements for Linda's family.

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Michael W. Cauley, 64, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was born April 3, 1950 in Daviess County, Ky. to the late James L. and Ella Mae Coomes Cauley. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 696. Mr. Cauley enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing.

 

He is survived by one brother, James (Barbara) Cauley of Owensboro and special friends, Darrell Henderson, David Preston, William Summers, Donnie Nugent and Darrell Henderson, Jr., all of Owensboro.

 

There will be no visitation or services.

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Virginia "Ginny" Lea Hoagland, 76, of Owensboro, passed away on June 25, 2014 at the Heartford House. She was born on December 4, 1937 in Rockford, Ill. to the late Clifford and Catherine Tindell. Ginny was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed her flower gardens and always had a smile on her face.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Wahl in 1996 and two brothers, Dick Tindell and Bobby Hocking.

 

Survivors include her husband, Ernie Hoagland; son, Richard (Marcia) Graves; two daughters, Jodie (Brett) Vance, Cindy Wilkerson; step daughter, Debbie (Dale) Morgan; fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Pat (Ron) Miller, Holly (Werner) Zugler, Karen (Stu) Marty; brother, John "Jack" (Mary Ann) Tindell; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Services are at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Jonelle McDaniel Hutchens, 78, of Owensboro passed away June 24, 2014 at Heartford House. She was born in Ohio County, Ky. to the late Ivan and Thelma (Ford) McDaniel.

 

Jonelle was dedicated to her family and always enjoyed the time spent together. She had wonderful friends and was involved for thirty years with the same Bunco group. She was a strong, caring, independent person and was admired by all who knew her.

 

Jonelle was a member of Third Baptist Church and was very active as the leader of the senior group at her church and was a substitute Sunday School teacher for the Ester Class.

 

Jonelle was a graduate of Transylvania University and a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a career elementary school teacher who taught in both the Pike County and Daviess County School Systems. She retired from Burns Elementary in 1990 after teaching third grade a combined total of 35 years. After retirement she continued to work with children and volunteered at Seven Hills Elementary for a few years.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. "Hutch" Hutchens in 1995 and her parents.

 

Jonelle is survived by her daughter, Kim (Ron) Bryson; grandson, Ronnie (Amber) Bryson; and great grandson, Riley James Bryson all of Louisville; brother, Don (Pat) McDaniel; sister, Wanda (Bill) Francisco both of Owensboro; four nephews, Michael (Lisa) Damron, Jeff Francisco both of Zephyrhills, Fla., Mark (Rebecca) McDaniel of Lexington, Brian (Laurita Kim) McDaniel of Louisville.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
