Wanda Jean Cheever, 72, of Madisonville, Ky.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Wanda Jean Cheever, 72, of Madisonville, Ky., passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Jean was born April 25, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., to William Edward and Juanita Mae (Ewen) Henderson.

Jean graduated from Lindsey Wilson College and became a nurse, working in Obstetrics and Gynecology before becoming an industrial plant nurse. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working around the yard, but her greatest joy was being Chris’ grandmother. She was a member of Earlington United Methodist Church and loved singing praises to her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Cheever; daughters, Kara Southers (Josh) of Charlestown, Ind., and Kelli Cheever of Terre Haute, Ind.; son, Dr. Todd Cheever of Lexington, Ky.; grandson, Chris Chesnut (Lora) of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister, Donna Schneider (Don) of Charlestown, Ind.; brother, William Henderson, Jr. (Wilma) of Hanson, Ky.; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Earlington United Methodist Church (201 E. Moss Avenue, Earlington, Ky.) on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Marty Martinez officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon’s International, the Salvation Army, or the Door of Hope (Madisonville).
