MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Mary Edna Hicklin, 94, of Madisonville, Ky. passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
She was born May 2, 1920 in Onton, Ky. to the late Maynard Waldo Smith, Sr., and Christine Fridy Smith.
Mrs. Hicklin was a housewife. She was in the Ladies Auxiliary Club for Elks. She was also a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she served in Ladies Aide.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Wesley Hicklin, Sr; one son, Homer Wesley Hicklin, Jr.; one daughter, Judith Ann Hicklin; one granddaughter, Joy Ford Holmes; one great-granddaughter, Emma Joy Ford; two sisters, and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha (James) Ford of Henderson, Ky.; three grandchildren, Steve (Amy) Ford of Greenville, Ky., Nathan (Lindsey) Hicklin of Nashville, Tenn., and Emily (Jamie) Ray of Madisonville; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Jamie Holmes of Henderson, Dylan Ford of Greenville, Alex and Nolan Ray of Madisonville, and Anna Claire Hicklin of Nashville; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Hicklin.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Mason and Rev. Danny Fireline officiating. Burial will follow at Hicklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Ford, Jamie Ray, Nathan Hicklin, Dylan Ford, Melvin Carlisle, and Dr. James Bowles.
Memorial donation may be made to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital In Memory of Emma Joy Ford. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
