DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE HAULTED AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15 INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. DRIFTS UP TO A FOOT AND A HALF HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION AND TRAVEL SHOULD BE AVOIDED IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. (National Weather Service)
He was born August 12, 1922 in Decatur, IL to the late Orville F. Spencer and Mary A. Plunkett Spencer. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Spencer, two sisters, Mary Lou Combs and Bernice Wertz and one brother, Orville F. Spencer.

Mr. Spencer was a member and past Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. He retired from New York Life Insurance with certifications of CLU, and CHFC, in 1988 he became a life member of the “Million Dollar Round Table”. He was a US Army Air force Captain in WWII stationed in Bremen, Germany a very active member with the Gideon’s, the Regional Senior Citizens Center and Meals on Wheels

He is survived by his wife, Marie Robinson Spencer; two sons, Bruce (Joan) Spencer and Terry (Sarah) Spencer both of Hanson, KY; one step son, James Robin Brown of Madisonville; one sister, Doris Franklin of Dawson Springs, KY; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Slaughters Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:30 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terry Spencer, Bruce Spencer, Bud Spencer, Jay Spencer, Aaron Spencer, and Jeff Spencer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gideon’s International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
