Boitnott B. Gentry, age 93, of Kuttawa, KY and formerly of Dawson Springs, KY

 

obit-sunrisetreeHOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Boitnott B. Gentry, age 93, of Kuttawa, KY and formerly of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away at 8:20 A.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Caldwell County Medical Center in Princeton, KY. Mr. Gentry was born January 14, 1918 in Caldwell County, KY. He was of Baptist Faith and attended the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Also, he was a member of the Al E. Orten Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Gentry was a 1936 graduate of Dawson Springs High School and served his country during World War II in the United States Army during which time he was injured in battle and awarded the Purple Heart.

During his lifetime he worked at Outwood. He started working with the VA Hospital at Outwood after he returned from WWII, and in 1960 he began to work with the State of Kentucky at Outwood when the facility was converted to a State Residence, Medical Facility and School for the Handicap. Additionally, he was a member of the local Lee Wilson Stevens VFW Post 5359 and DAV. Mr. Gentry had been a professional piano player with a local dance band and he enjoyed playing a great variety of music all of his life. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife ~ Vonna Katherine Gentry of Kuttawa, KY; two sons ~ Boitnott B. Gentry, Jr. (Jacque)of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ronald W. Gentry (Linda)of Dawson Springs, KY; and a step-daughter ~ Joyce Duncan (Sammy) of Jefferson City, TN; Five Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandson.

Preceding Mr. Gentry in death were his parents ~ Claude and Kitty Clark Gentry; three brothers ~ Jack Gentry, John Gentry, and Jasper Gentry; and, a young sister~Loraine Gentry, and a step daughter~ Creta Cooper Mitchell, and grandson~ Michael Aiken;

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 5 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY, and on Thursday, November 17, 2011, from 9 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Roger Felker on Thursday, November 17, 2011at 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
