Shirley Ann Rich-Lewis, 61 of Nortonville

3flowerNORTONVILLE KY - Shirley Ann Rich-Lewis, 61 of Nortonville passed away Monday at Hillside Villa Care and Rehab Center in Madisonville.

She was born on June 1, 1950 in Louisville, KY to the late Lonard and Angelina Rich.

Shirley was a member of the Nortonville First Christian Church where she was the pianist for 20 years. She was also a graduate of Murray State University; a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a long time member of the International Reading Association.

“Ms. Shirley” taught in Louisville for three years before accepting a teaching job in Hopkins County. On her journey to retirement she enhanced the minds of her students whom she fondly referred to as her “babies” for 30 years. Her love for life and teaching was easily visible in her classroom as she helped children truly enjoy learning.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Pat Lewis; a stepdaughter, Shawn (Phillip) Brasher; stepsons, Mark and Shane (Susan) Lewis; grandchildren, Jade Lewis and Zachary Brasher; brothers Neil and Dale (Caroline) Rich; nephews Charlie (Roshal) and Will Rich; as well as a host of friends and “teacher buddies.” She will be missed and remembered by all for her jovial outlook on life.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Thursday at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Rev. Ron Henn officiating and Bro. Kevin Jett assisting. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM and Thursday 11AM till service hour at the funeral home.
