HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Alla Mai (Maizie) Edwards, 84, of Atlantic Beach, FL, passed away on 12/7/2011 at McGraw Hospice Center. She was born on Sept 9th, 1927 in Fulton, KY daughter to the late John M. and Guynelle Cook Howell.

In 1945, Maizie graduated as Valedictorian from Clinton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Murray State University in 1949.

She taught in the Hopkins County Kentucky school system for 37 years and after retiring worked with Madisonville Community College for another ten.

Maizie had a very strong faith in God and over the years supported many Christian causes worldwide. Before leaving for Florida, she was a beloved member of the Living Waters Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Brent and Sandi Edwards of Atlantic Beach, FL; a grand-daughter Cassy Nicole Edwards of Clearwater, FL; a brother Errol (Martha) Howell, of Mayfield, KY; and nieces and nephews.

Thanks to Sherry Hobgood plus Sergio and Paula Chavez for their support and consideration during her last few years in Madisonville.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Barnett Strother Funeral Home with Bro. David Jackson officiating. Burial will take place at Wesley Cemetery near Clinton, KY on Tuesday afternoon following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Living Waters Church of God, 95 Dulin St, Madisonville, KY, 42431.
