Corine Smith, age 95, of Madisonville

smith coreneHOPKINS COUNTY, KY -Corine Smith, 95, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 4:53 A.M on Tuesday December 13th, 2011, at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.

She was born June 4th, 1916 in Hopkins County, KY to the late David Henry Chandler and late Myrtie May Chanlder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Daniel Smith; one son, Larry Ray Smith; two sisters, Allie Rae Coffman and Evadean Carver and six brothers, Carl; Clarence; Lawrence; Aubrey; Paul and Cordis.

She was a member of Carters Chapel General Baptist Church where she was a member of KOMC Ladies Circle. She was an avid quilter and reader of many books. She married her husband Dan on December 8, 1930. Mrs. Smith was also a devout Christian.

She is survived by her caregiver of 30 years, Sharon Carter of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 16th at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Lutz and Bro. Ruby Rickard officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Brick Church Cemetery in Slaughters, KY.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday until service time at the funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Prentice Coffman, Mike Coffman, Bruce Coffman, Ricky Carter, Tom Wilgus and Tom Baxter.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carters Chapel General Baptist Church on Wyatt Ave. or Katherine Ockerman Missionary Circle. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
