Garland A. Edwards, age 88

 

obit8HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Garland A. Edwards, age 88 passed away at 8:10 AM Monday, December 12, 2011, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN of natural causes.

Mr. Edwards was born in Powderly, KY on May 16, 1923 the son of the late Joseph Chester and Agnes Hastings Edwards. Garland was a WWII and Korean War veteran for the US Navy, and a foreman at Phelps Dodge, he also retired from Montgomery Ward. He was a member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Ernie Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sue Allison Edwards of Hopkinsville, KY; his son, Alan Edwards and his wife Mary Bergman of Pierron, IL; his daughters, Ann Roseberry, and her husband, Mark of Hopkinsville, KY, Allison Edwards and her husband, Ken Cooley of Tampa, FL, Julia Edwards of Hopkinsville, KY, and Amy Buster and her husband, Gerald of Princeton, KY; his sister, Elizabeth Wayne Blalock of Dawson Springs, KY; three grandchildren, John Scott Roseberry, Christa Cate Edwards, and Samuel Cooley.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2011 at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Nathan Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
