hinton paulMADISONVILLE, KY - Devoted husband and beloved father, Paul J. Hinton of Madisonville, KY is now living in Heaven. Paul went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Dec 24. 2011.

Paul grew up on a farm in Beech Creek, KY. In his younger years, he taught school and coached basketball at Rochester High School. He was a long-time employee of Peabody Coal Company and accomplished Amway distributor. Paul served in the U.S. Army in Italy in WWII, where he was awarded the Bronze Medal. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Madisonville. Paul was a graduate of Western Kentucky University, past president of the Madisonville Lion’s Club and a Founding father of the Madisonville Community College Lion’s Club. His interests included Kentucky Wildcats basketball, hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing. But above all, Paul will be remembered as a person who enjoyed and invested himself in the lives of others. His love for life and devotion to those whom he loved were endearing traits that will be deeply missed.

Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Billye; three daughters, Paula Jennings (Mike), Pat Menser (Mike), and Janet Price (Charles); two siblings, Marjorie Putnam and David Hinton; six grandchildren, Aaron Menser, Sarah Atwood, Angela Haibt, John Menser, Charles Wm. Price, and Will Craft; five great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Leo Haibt, Hannah and Elle Atwood, and Michael Menser. Paul was looking forward to the births of two new great-grandchildren (children of Charles Wm. Price and John Menser) and meeting Will’s new daughter, Leah. Paul was stepfather to Billye’s daughters, Cindy Messmer (grandchildren – Eric, Lori, Miranda, and Cassandra) and Connie Atkinson (grandchildren – Ben, Aaron, and Shawna.)

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. in The Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.

Pallbearers will be Noel Hardwick, Carl Foster, Meredith Henninger, Dan Reasons, Charles William Price, John Menser, Will Craft and Eric Messmer.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. There will also be visitation at the First Baptist Church from 9:00 A.M. Wednesday with service to follow at 10:00 A.M.

Memorials may be made to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, 301 East Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40202-9831.
