MADISONVILLE, KY - Rev. C. W. Duncan, 92, of Greenville, KY and formerly of Madisonville, KY passed away at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Hermitage Care and Rehab in Owensboro, KY.
He was born August 14, 1919, in Manitou, KY he was the son of the late Roy L Duncan and Hallie Mae Wall Duncan. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Anna Lee Gatlin Duncan.
He ministered many churches in Western Kentucky from 1958 until his retirement in 2004. He was a WW II US Navy veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, past president of the Lion’s Club in Central City, KY, a past president of the Kiwanis club in Providence, KY. He was a Co founder of Muhlenberg Opportunity Workshop. He served as a Boy Scout leader in Western Kentucky.
He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Duncan Ogden of Owensboro, KY; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Teresa Duncan of Greenville; a granddaughter, Heather Duncan; six grandsons, Benji Ogden, Heath Duncan; Matt Ogden, Bryar Duncan, Chad Vincent and Jeremy Vincent and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday after 9:00 A.M. Thursday until the service time.
Pallbearers will be Benji Ogden, Heath Duncan, Matt Ogden, Bryar Duncan, Chad Vincent, and Jeremy Vincent. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Wayne Gatlin.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the Second Baptist Church of Greenville building Fund or the Century Christian Church in Owensboro, KY.
