Mary (Shirley) Stearman Sisk, age 77, formerly of Madisonville

SISK MARYHOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Mary (Shirley) Stearman Sisk, age 77, formerly of Madisonville, Kentucky, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Worthington, Ohio.

Shirley was born September 10, 1934 daughter of the late Carl R. Stearman and Sophia A. (Finley) Harris. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Harold E. Sisk in 2001. Shirley graduated from Western Kentucky University and become a school teacher. She retired from the Hopkins County, Kentucky school system, having taught at Madisonville North Hopkins High School, West Hopkins High School, and most area elementary schools as a substitute teacher. Shirley had also been active in the Madisonville chapters of AARP and Young at Heart, and was an active member of Browder United Methodist Church. She was a very generous woman who had a sweet smile. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo and loved flowers, but most of all Shirley cherished time spent with family, especially her daughter.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Cristy (Tom) Sisk Wilson of Westerville, Ohio; sister, Betsy Alexander of Ilsley, Kentucky; two half sisters, Carla Cavanaugh and Martha Rigdon of Mortons Gap, Kentucky; seven nephews and seven nieces; numerous great nephews and nieces; and step-grandchildren, Erica Wilson of Columbus, Ohio and Ashley Wilson of Seoul, South Korea.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday. Rev. Marty Martinez officiating. Interment Browder Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Browder Cemetery Fund, c/o Claudie Conrad, 801 Neelie Webb Rd., Madisonville, Kentucky 42431.
