Tommie Pauline Barrett, 76, of Benton, KY

 

BENTON, KY - Tommie Pauline Barrett, 76, of Benton, KY passed away at 5:58AM Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at her home.

Tommie had worked at Ashby Chair Factory and at John P. Rhody Tree Nursery. She was a member of Altona Baptist Church. She loved camping, traveling, golfing, gardening, her church her family and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Chester T. Vied, Jr.; five sons, Steve and Carla Vied of Owensboro, KY; Rick and Eve Vied of Gilbertsville, KY; Greg Vied of Sharpe, KY; Chuck and Linda Vied of Murray, KY and Tim Vied of Calvert City, KY; one daughter, Tammie and Steven Smith of Calvert City, KY; sixteen grandchildren, Stephanie Vied of Spartanburg, SC; Emily Vied of Atlanta, GA; Matthew Vied of Lexington, KY; Micah Vied of Paducah, KY; Amberly Seilheimer of Paducah, KY; Ashley Shanks of Lone Oak, KY; Angela Morris of Benton, KY; Trista Larkin of Benton, KY; Jenna Vied of Murray, KY; Josh Vied of Murray, KY; Melissa Noles of Calvert City, KY; Tristan Ramsey of Murray, KY; Jordan Vied of Lexington, KY; Amy Vied of Calvert City, KY; Treston Smith of Gilbertsville, KY and Taylor Smith of Paducah, KY; sixteen great grandchildren, Chase Vied, Brashton Vied, Micah Seilheimer, Rebecca Seilheimer, Jessica Seilheimer, Canaan Shanks, Asher Shanks, Lawson Morris, Dax Morris, Dylan Larkin, Olivia Larkin, Anna Noles, Addison Noles, Ava Noles, Easton Smith and Addison Smith; and three sisters, Marie Driskell of Benton, KY; Della Smith of Possum Trot, KY and Betty Karnes of Tatumsville, KY.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Phelps and Ruby Barrett; five brothers, Robert Barrett, Woodrow Barrett, Charles Barrett, Wesley Barrett and Jay D. Barrett and her parents, Sam Barrett and Cornelia Griggs Barrett.

Services: Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Altona Baptist Church in Calvert City. Rev. Roger Rice and Rev. C.C. Brasher will officiate and burial will follow in the Fooks Cemetery.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday, March 9, 2012 at Altona Baptist Church, and from 9:00AM until the funeral hour at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Team Kid, Altona Baptist Church, 5827 US Highway 62, Calvert City, Kentucky 42029.
