James Euel Erwin

MURRAY, KY - James Euel Erwin, 92, of Hazel, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his residence.

Born May 31, 1919, Mr. Erwin was a retired farmer and a lifelong member of South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He served as the treasurer of the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund for over 45 years, and also served as a Committeeman for the Calloway County ASCS for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Mary Outland Erwin; a brother, Ordest H. Erwin; five sisters, Ellen Orr, Lucille Cooper, Lurine Cooper, Leola Erwin, and Clara Key; and an infant grandaughter, Tammie Workman.

Mr. Erwin is survived by his wife of 73 years, Brenda Mae Erwin; a son, James Dale Erwin of Hazel; four daughters, Carolyn Parks, Linda Workman (Eddie), Sheila James (George), Joanne Mahan (James), all of Hazel; a sister, Mary Jo Swearengin of Murray; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Bro. Glenn Hill, Bro. Eugene Nichols, and Bro. Alan Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 4 – 8 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Heritage Family Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Erwin, Kerry Erwin, Michael Parks, Dustin Parks, Greg Workman, Les James, and Curtis James. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandson-in-laws, great-grandsons, and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Kathy Wrye, 818 N. 20th St., Murray, passed away 42071.
