David A. Burkhart, 71, of Benton, KY

BENTON, KY (11/21/12) – David A. Burkhart, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 20, at Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, KY.

Born Wednesday, October 29, 1941 in Graves County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late David Ellis Burkhart and Dorothy Mae (Carmon) Burkhart of Benton, KY. He worked as a boat pilot for Vulcan Materials.

Surviving are his mother: Dorothy Mae (Carmon) Burkhart of Benton, KY; wife, Carol (Henson) Burkhart of Benton, KY; son, David Lee Burkhart of Hickory, KY; daughters, Donna Jean Lamb of Hickory, KY, Nancy Ann Gill of Hickory, KY, Ruth Ann Triebull of Paducah, KY, and Gracie Jean Slagle of Boaz, KY; brother, Thomas Burkhart of Hickory, KY; sisters, Jeannette Doublin of Benton, KY and Phyllis Diane Morehead of New Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Ellis Burkhart; brother, Robert Glen Burkhart; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Frank Queen will officiate with interment to follow in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Aurora, KY.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association P.O. Box 9067 Louisville, KY 40209.

Collier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
