William (Slugger) McKnight, 72, of Princeton, KY

PRINCETON, Ky. - William (Slugger) McKnight, 72, of Princeton, KY passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY following a long illness. He was a retired truck driver for Hudson Trucking and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jones McKnight, Princeton, KY; two step-sons, Steward Newberry, Princeton, KY; Gary Lee Travis, Texas; one step-granddaughter, Emily Christy Newberry; one step grandson, Collin Reese Newberry; and a niece he raised, Shannon Wadlington Jennings, England; two brothers, Doug Green, Princeton, KY; Dickie Green, Caldwell Co., KY; four sisters, Sue Prince, Caldwell Co., KY; Corinne Gilkey, Caldwell Co., KY; Edith McKinney, Princeton, KY; Charlene Towery, Florence, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson McKnight, Jr and Mattie Elizabeth Pruett McKnight Orten; one daughter, Kathy Lynn McKnight Hardgrove; one step-daughter, Christy Newberry; one brother, James Robert McKnight; and one sister, Sandra Kay Slaton.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 29 at Morgan's Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 29 at 1:00 PM at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow in Castleberry Church Cemetery.
