Peggy Sue Brown McEuen, 79

PRINCETON, Ky. - Peggy Sue Brown McEuen, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at her home in Princeton.

A native to Marion, Ky., she graduated from Marion High School and attended Mars Hill College in North Carolina. She worked for the U.S. Department of Navy in Arlington, Virginia, in the 1950s. But her ultimate life’s work was devotion to her husband and children.

An active member of First Baptist Church since 1960, Peggy taught Sunday School, Training Union, and Girls in Action (GAs) and was fondly known as “Mama Mac” to her students. She sang the sanctuary choir, served on several church committees, and helped to launch the Meals on Wheels program. She had a lifelong commitment to missions programs and looked forward to attending the annual Foreign Missions Week at Ridgecrest (N.C.) Baptist Conference Center. She loved cooking, gardening, reading, and travel.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Bruce McEuen; a daughter, Melissa A. McEuen, and her husband, Edward Stanton of Lexington, KY.; two sons, Kevin Fritts McEuen and his wife Susie, of Lexington, Ky., and Kelly Brown McEuen and his wife Megan, of Georgetown, Ky.; grandchildren, Mina James McEuen, William Samuel Mentelle McEuen, Elizabeth Miller and Ben Miller of Georgetown, Ky.; Daniel Stanton of Los Angeles; Carlos Stanton of New York; and Chris Estridge of Indianapolis; one brother, J. Todd Brown of Eddyville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, William Walter, John, Collie, Clifton, Marion “Bud”, and Osborne “Gus”; and two sisters, Beulah Brown and Zula Tabor. Her parents were Jay and Maude Guess Brown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home and 10:00 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Princeton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Workman officiating assisted by Rev. Russ Davidson. Burial will follow in the Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, KY.

Memorial contributions may be to Christian Life Center, First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Princeton, KY 42445.
