Charles Thomas Norwood, 83, of Hardin, KY

4sunsetHARDIN, Ky. – Charles Thomas Norwood, age 83 of Hardin, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 11:58 p.m. at his home in Hardin, KY.

Born Friday, February 21, 1930 in Olive, KY, he was farmer and was a retired chemical operator for B. F. Goodrich Chemical Co. in Calvert City, KY. He was a member of the Olive Baptist Church, Olive, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Carrol (Watkins) Norwood of Hardin, KY; also surviving are two sons, John Leyton (Jayne) Norwood, of Hardin, KY and Phil Thomas (Diane) Norwood, of Hardin, KY; one daughter, Cindy Odom of Hardin, KY; four grandchildren, Vanessa McGregor of Benton, KY, Ragan Mitchell of Murfreesboro, TN, Eric King of Dyersburg, TN., and Charles Henry Odom of Paducah, KY; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Louie Norwood and Lois (Henderson) Norwood; a daughter, Lanora Gail King; and a brother, James Franklin Norwood.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Rev. Johnny Phillips officiating, Interment will follow the service in the Barnett Cemetery, Hardin, KY.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans LN STE 401 Louisville, KY 40205-3284.
