Chloie Etheridge Newton, 87, of Benton, KY

3sunsetBENTON, Ky. – Chloie Etheridge Newton, age 87 of Benton, passed away at her home on Friday, May 31, 2013. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she had worked outside the home at various times as a LPN at Murray Calloway County Hospital and as an assembly line worker and first-aid nurse at Ashby Corporation and Conalco.

Mrs. Newton is survived by one daughter, Linda Newton Nelson and one son, Jimmy Newton, both of Benton; two granddaughters, Tina Nelson Laemmle and husband Brian of Mount Vernon, OH, and Jessica Newton Wayne, husband Nick of Nashville, TN; great-grandson, Ethan Guthrie of Mount Vernon, OH, and great-granddaughter, Ella Jennifer Wayne of Nashville, TN; one brother, Willie Etheridge of Hardin; one sister, June Edwards of Benton and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack Newton; granddaughter, Jennifer Newton Gray of Benton; son-in-law, Garry Wayne Nelson of Benton, her parents, Rufe and Stella (Starks) Etheridge; three brothers, Toy Etheridge, Orville Etheridge and S.T. Etheridge; two sisters, Floy Vick and Loveda Salyers all of Hardin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton with Brother Kevin Williams and Murray Riley officiating. Interment will follow the service in the McNatt Cemetery (Marshall Co. Memory Gardens) in Benton, KY.

Friends may call between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
