Alvin (Rudell) Gipson, age 85 of Benton, KY

crossflowersBENTON, Ky. - Alvin (Rudell) Gipson, age 85 of Benton, KY, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his residence.

Born Tuesday, June 14, 1927 in Marshall Co., KY, he was a retired chemical operator at SKW Alloys in Calvert City, KY. He honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.

Surviving are two sons, Joe Lee Gipson of Hardin, KY., and Larry Dale Gipson of Benton, KY. One daughter, Vickie Lynn Ford of Marion, KY, two brothers, Harold "Goober" Gipson of Benton, KY and Kenny Gipson of Grand Rivers, KY, two sisters, Bobbie Jean Higgins of Benton, KY and Patricia Thompson of Calvert City, K.Y.

Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents Onnie Gipson and the late Lillian (Divine) Gipson, his wife Elva (Joyce) Gipson, one son, Alvin Ray Gipson, two brothers, Dub Gipson and Paul "Puncher" Gipson, three sisters, Louise Owens, Mammie Jo Berkhem and Katherine Vogel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Rev. Charles Steele will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Briensburg Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Friends may call between the hours of 12:00 p.m. (noon) and the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
