College Application Week Nov. 4-8

graduation 300HENDERSON, Ky. (11/4/13) - For many students, particularly those who do not have an immediate family member who attended college, applying to college can seem overwhelming. For those students not having someone who can help them navigate the college application process can even prevent them from pur-suing a postsecondary education.

Henderson County High School is implementing a College Application Week, which will take place during the week of Nov. 4 through Nov. 8 to ensure that every senior has the opportunity to receive hands on assistance as they take the first big step toward continuing their education following high school.

The following schedule of events will take place during College Application Week for high school stu-dents:

Monday: 9-12 grade students will set college/career goals during advisory period. Teachers will show their students a virtual tour of their Alma Mater.

Tuesday: College T-shirt Day

Wednesday: Seniors will complete KHEAA’s Getting the Facts-Your Personalized College Guide and have the opportunity to complete a college application.

Thursday: Students will have the opportunity to ask their teachers about various colleges. A college jeopardy game will be played to see what the students have learned, and various prizes donated by local businesses will be given out.

Friday: Seniors who completed the Getting the Facts-Your Personalized College Guide and their appli-cation will be entered into a drawing to win prizes from local businesses. The drawing will take place on Friday.
