Happenings and Meetings - Week of December 1

happeningsandmeetings orangeOWENSBORO, Ky. (11/30/13) - The following meetings and events are scheduled for the following week:

The Daviess County Board of Education will meet for a board work session on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 11:45 a.m. at Tamarack Elementary. For more information, contact (270) 852-7000.

The Owensboro Board of Commissioners will meet for a regular commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. The meeting is located in the Chambers at City Hall at 101 E. 4th St. For more information, contact (270) 687-8552.

The Owensboro Public Schools Board of Education will meet for a board luncheon at noon Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Central Office, located at 450 Griffith Ave. For more information, contact (270) 686-1000.

The Daviess County Fiscal Court will meet for a regular meeting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Daviess County Fiscal Courtroom, located on the second floor of the Daviess County Courthouse at 212 St. Ann St. For more information, contact (270) 685-8424.

The Bluegrass Jam will be held at the International Bluegrass Music Museum at 117 Daviess St., from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday Dec. 5. Jamming will be for musicians of all levels. For more information, contact the museum at (270) 926-7891.

The Holiday Hustle 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department, will be held at the Adkisson Greenbelt Trail all day on Saturday, Dec. 7. The trail will begin at the Dairy Queen on New Hartford Road and continue on the Horse Fork Creek Trail.

The Owensboro Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker Sweet Character Brunch will be held at the RiverPark Center from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 For more information, go to: www.owensborodancetheatre.org.

The 5th Annual Toys For Tots Holiday Bash will be held at the Ramada Inn at 3136 W 2nd St., from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7. The bash will feature live music, a food court, games with prizes, a silent auction, and Santa. All proceeds will go to the Toys for Tots program in Owensboro. A Pearl Harbor Remembrance service will be held at VFW Post No. 696 from 5 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7. The service will honor U.S Armed Forces personnel, who were present on the fateful Sunday in December of 1941. The Owensboro Dance Theatre will present the Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker” at the RiverPark Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The event will be complete with elaborate sets, beautiful costumes, and the talents of more than 100 community members, as well as the theatre company and guest artists from the Kentucky Ballet Theatre. Up and coming bluegrass band Bradford Lee Folk & The Bluegrass Playboys will appear at the International Bluegrass Music Museum from 8 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8. Tickets are $20 and include beer, wine and snacks. For more information and tickets, contact (270) 926-7891.
