MURRAY, KY - Vernon Nance, age 90, passed away Monday, December 27, 2011 at his home in Murray.
Born October 21, 1921 in Henry County, Tennessee, Mr. Nance was a retired electrical welder, having owned and operated his own welding business. He also served in the merchant marines and also the coast gaurd. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member and of the Solomon Sunday School class, where he served as treasurer for 36 years. He was also a staunch supporter of AMOR, having made two trips each to both Brazil and Montana.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annie Jones Nance; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Burkeen; and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coyn and Myrtice Orr Nance; and a brother, James Lowell Nance.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 30th, at Imes-Miller Funeral Home in Murray. Dr. Greg Earwood, Rev. Boyd Smith, Dr. Winfield Rose, Mark Alan Vinson and Boyd Walker will officiate. Music will be provided by Mike Crook, Lisa Ray and congregational singing will be led by Jordyn Richmond.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Imes-Miller.
