yonts a 300FRANKFORT, KY (1/11/12) - A state legislative committee today approved over $136,000 in funding for Hopkins, Christian and Muhlenberg counties, with more than $80,000 in federal funds dedicated to services for senior citizens including adult day care and Alzheimer’s care.
 
State Rep. Brent Yonts, D-Greenville, said the $80,000 approved by the Government Contract Review Committee will help to cover social, nutritional, home care and personal care attendant costs for senior citizens as well as assist with elder abuse prevention services throughout the Pennyrile area.
 
The committee also approved an increase of $10,000 to Madisonville Community College for fiscal year 2012 to provide support for the School Counts program, and approved $25,000 to help fund the cost of the Muhlenberg Community Theater.
 
Out of a total of $56,500 in coal severance funds, a total of $21,500 was approved by the committee to purchase radio equipment for the Central City police department.
