BENTON, KY - Hugh Evans Scott, age 81, of Benton, KY, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012, at his home in Benton, KY.
Born January 8, 1931 in Houston, MS., he was a graduate of Mississippi State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was a retired Electrical Engineer for Tennessee Valley Authority. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton.
He was the son of the late Jim Hugh Scott and the late Mary Lee (Eaves) Scott.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Marilyn (Miles) Scott of Benton, KY., also surviving are three daughters; Teresa Kern (Randy) of Villa Ridge, IL., Mary Jo Sprouse (Jim) of Benton, KY., Jill R. Scott of Chattanooga, TN., and one son; John Robert Scott (Cindy) of Madison, MS. six grandchildren; Will Kern of Villa Ridge, IL., Melissa Merideth of Paducah, KY., Jason Sprouse of Benton, KY., James C. Sprouse of Lewisburg, PA., Sara Lyn Scott of Madison, MS., and Cameron Scott of Madison, MS. One great-grandchild; Mackenzie Kern of Mound City, IL.
He is also survived by two sisters; Cynthia Beasley (Lawrence) of Mantee, MS., and Barbara Pumphrey (Billy) of Mantee, MS.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Rev. Don Wilson will officiate.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Benton Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
