LEXINGTON, Ky. - Billy P. Arvin, 79, passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital with his family at his side. Born in West Irvine, KY, he was the son of the late Graydon Scott Arvin and Lillian Rice Arvin Noland. He was retired from IBM and was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church. Mr. Arvin was a charter member of Aldersgate Methodist Church and had served his church in many different positions. He was a volunteer in the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver Award. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Handy Arvin; two sons, Chuck (Jean Ann) Arvin, Indianapolis, IN and Alan (Monica) Arvin, Pacific Grove, CA; a sister, Betty Hisle, Ft. Wright, KY; one niece, two nephews; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Fri. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Pastor Tim Thompson. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop 59. Honorary bearers will be the youth members of Troop 59. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thurs. at the funeral home.
