LEXINGTON, Ky. - Douglas, Mary Eva Taylor, 91, Nicholasville, KY, formerly of Lexington, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. Mary Eva was married to William S. Taylor, Somerset, KY until his death in 1964 and to Laverne Douglas, Lexington, until his death. She was born in California in 1921 to Goldie and Wheeler White.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Taylor, New Orleans, LA; a daughter, Goldie Lynn Smith (Dale), Nicholasville; grandchildren, Dewey Taylor (Narlene), Florida, Daffety Ledford, North Carolina, Scott Smith (Rachel), Nicholasville and Mark Smith (Shannon), Virginia; great grandchildren, Dillon Ledford, Connor Smith, Sean Smith, Landon Smith and Sophia Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Mavin Stokes, Somerset, KY and brother, Ray White, Sydney, Australia. Mary Eva was very involved in her church and played piano and organ at South Elkhorn Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church and lastly at Revival Tabernacle. She was in several gospel groups in the Lexington area. The family would like to thank her compassionate doctor, Patrick Schneider for his loving care of her over the years and to a special niece, Gaylene Miller, who took great care of her in her daughter`s absence over the years.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Rd. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and on Friday from 1-3 pm at the West Somerset Baptist Church, Somerset, KY. Burial will follow in the West Somerset Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday.
