LEXINGTON, Ky. - Bruce Maggard, 89, passed away on Feb. 5. 2013. He was born April 6, 1923 in Cumberland, KY, son of the late Henry Preston and Susan K. Maggard and was preceded in death by a grandson, Jake Maggard, seven brothers and three sisters.
He served in the US Navy during WW II and became known in Lexington for his restaurant franchises, car dealerships, and real estate holdings. He was a former director of a local bank, member of Rotary, and an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church. As an avid, self-taught golfer and member of Greenbriar and Lexington Country Clubs, he was proud of having 6 holes in one. He also enjoyed walking and spending time on his farm.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eula G. Maggard; sons, Ronald (Michelle) Maggard, Newport Beach, CA, and Paul (Laurie) Maggard; five grandchildren, Buck, Ben, Elizabeth, William, and Mark Maggard; and four step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Maddie, Beau, and Hudson Roth.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, 2 PM, at Centenary United Methodist Church. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 2800 Tates Creek Rd., Lexington, KY 40502. A private burial will be held.
