LEXINGTON, Ky. - Daniel Elmer Griese, 87, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Born January 18, 1926 in Cleveland, he was the son of Elmer H. and Helen (Underwood) Griese. He attended Adelbert College and graduated Western Reserve University in 1948 with a BBA. For many years Mr. Griese worked for National Screw and Manufacture of Cleveland, a family-owned company. From 1967 to 1975 Mr. Griese was Vice President of Manufacturing for Central Screw Company in Frankfort, KY. He served as president of Frankfort Chamber of Commerce in 1972, was vice chairman of Associated Industries of KY from 1975-76. He was also involved in the Lexington, KY Chapter of SCORE as a workshop presenter. From 1978-1980 Mr. Griese was a self-employed Real Estate Broker here in Lexington. Mr. Griese was an avid skeet shooter and was a member of numerous gun clubs including Ashland Gun Club. He taught, competed and was passionate about swimming.
He is survived by one daughter, Ann (Buzzy) Sullivan, two grandchildren, Ellis (Erin) Sullivan of Lexington and Danielle (Eddie) Neville of Lexington, and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Bridger and Lilah; one nephew, Tyler (Martha) Griese of Norwalk, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyne Watkins Griese; second wife, Janie Westphal Griese; a son, John Christian Griese; and a brother, David N. Griese.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
