Mary Clark McCreary, 79

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mary Clark McCreary, 79, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital with the belief that she will be rejoined with her loved ones as promised by her Catholic faith.

She was born in Louisville, KY, to the late John E. and Clara M. Montgomery. She remained with the center until her retirement in 1996. Prior to coming to Lexington, she was employed by the Louisville Convention Center. Previous to that time she was the owner/operator of the Mary McCreary Agency, a flight insurance agency that was located at the Louisville, KY airport. She stayed active after the retirement from the Lexington Center with a small retail business known as the Bag Lady. She also spent many hours researching her family history discovering many relatives that were reunited through her efforts. An avid bridge player, she leaves many true friends she found after her working years. She was an honorary member of the International Association of Venue Managers, having served as a District Vice President of that association. In addition, she served in that same capacity for the National Association of Concessionaires during her years in facility management. She was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan M. Wright and a brother, John E. Montgomery, Jr.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Angela (Tom) Rice and Janice Roush; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and a sister, Patricia Wafzig of Louisville also survives.

A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church by Rev. Dan Noll. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd.
