Harry L. Kidd, Jr., age 87, of Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Harry L. Kidd, Jr., age 87, of Lexington, KY, departed this life on February 19, 2013 at Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Vienna, VA on October 8, 1925 to the late Harry L. Kidd, Sr. and Maude Alford Kidd. (Fairfax County) He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He graduated from Asbury University, Wilmore, KY in 1951 with a BA in History. He married Christine Beulah Hahn, a classmate at Asbury on May 27, 1951. He felt a call to ministry, earning a Bachelor in Ministry degree from Westminster Seminary on May 22, 1956, while serving several churches. He served in the Virginia United Methodist Church Annual Conference for 39 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Christine (Hahn) Kidd; five children, Lawrence P. Kidd, (Pinar), Lois K. Barrett, (Dr. Mark), Dr. Timothy W. Kidd (Sandra), Stephen B. Kidd (Jeanna), Esther K. Washing (Steven), fifteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Rev. Kidd was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one son. Harry and Christine have resided at Liberty Ridge for four and a half years. Christine will continue to call Liberty Ridge her home. Harry was a member of the Right Angle Lodge No. 233, F. & A. M. Masonic Lodge.

Donations may be sent to Asbury University for “Current Scholarship” in memory of Harry L. Kidd. Persons interested in supporting students may send funds to Asbury University Advancement, One Macklem Drive, Wilmore, KY 40390.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Andover United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Boonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Donations may also be made to the Liberty Ridge Foundation, 701 Liberty Ridge Lane, Lexington, KY 40509 in memory of Harry L. Kidd, Jr.
