LEXINGTON, Ky. - Stanley Elizabeth Clay (Teta) Welch passed away Feb. 20, 2013. Born July 8, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Stanley and Elizabeth Grigsby Clay. Known to friends and family as “Teta”, she was a native of Winchester, KY. Teta graduated from Ward-Belmont College, Nashville, Tennessee, and the University of KY where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was also a member of Central Christian Church, Sun Dial Garden Club, Lexington Junior League, a past chairman of The Junior League Horse Show and the Children’s Theatre.
She is survived by one son, Miller A. Welch Jr. and daughter-in-law, Patricia Faraci Welch of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. One daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Welch Coco and son-in-law Dr. Dale E. Coco of Cameron Park, California. Teta is also survived by three grandchildren, Kathleen Patricia Welch of New York, New York, Katherine Clay Coco Noel and Christopher Coco of the San Francisco Bay area. A great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Claire Noel, one niece, one nephew, a great-nephew, and a great-niece.
Teta was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Eleanor Clay Goodwin and brother-in-law, William Ingram Goodwin. Graveside services will be conducted at the Winchester Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday.
